you may have recently received a letter from the Apache County Recorder’s Office regarding proof of U.S. citizenship and your voter registration.
We want to share an important update and provide some clarity.
After speaking directly with the Apache County Recorder’s Office, we’ve confirmed the following:
If you received a letter from the Recorder’s Office about proof of citizenship, your voter registration is still active and you have not been moved to the federal-only list. Your record is flagged as needing documentation due to a past MVD error. We’re reaching out to help you submit it so there are no issues in the future.
What the letter means
The letter was sent because your voter record is flagged as missing documented proof of citizenship due to a past Arizona MVD system error. Many voters were never asked for this documentation when they originally obtained or updated their driver’s license.
At this time, the flag does not affect your ability to vote.
Why we’re still reaching out
While your status is not currently impacted, the state may require this documentation to be resolved in the future. Our goal is to make sure Apache County voters are protected and that no one’s voting rights change unexpectedly later on.
We want to be proactive, supportive, and ahead of this — not reactive.
